Deutsche Telekom joins Subsquid decentralized network

T-Mobile Deutsche Telekom MMS has partnered with Subsquid, a decentralized data platform, to operate dedicated worker nodes within Subsquid’s decentralized “data lake.”

Partnership Goals

The collaboration focuses on enhancing the security and efficiency of blockchain data retrieval and delivery. Worker nodes in the Subsquid network process data queries and retrieve information from the data lake for data consumers.

Alexander Ebeling, co-founder of Deutsche Telekom’s Web3 Unit, stated: “For Deutsche Telekom, this collaboration aligns with our strategic vision of embracing decentralization and supporting the development of new, decentralized business models.”

Data Security and Handling

Marcel Fohrmann, Subsquid co-founder, emphasized that the partnership would help “strengthen and secure permissionless data access” across Web3.

Dmitry Zhelezov, Subsquid co-founder, explained the data protection approach: each piece is cryptographically validated and replicated across dozens of network nodes to ensure availability even if individual nodes go offline.

Ebeling highlighted Deutsche Telekom’s security measures: “security remains a paramount concern, as enterprise-scale systems are prime targets for cyber threats.” The company implements rigorous security audits and maintains a 24/7 on-call team for infrastructure uptime.

Additional Context

This partnership follows Deutsche Telekom’s recent decision to become a validator for Polygon, Ethereum’s layer-2 scaling platform. The company has also been running Bitcoin nodes since 2023 and recently indicated plans to engage in Bitcoin mining.
